Haunted Gallery Hampton Court

A reader recently wrote in to share with me a paranormal experience she had in 1987 at Hampton Court and this got me thinking about my recent visit. In September last year I was lucky enough to spend the day wandering the corridors of Hampton Court and was even able to take part in the preparations for Henry VIII’s wedding to Catherine Parr- more to come on this soon! My hopes of something ‘paranormal’ happening were of course increased as I approached the Haunted Gallery as one always hopes to catch a glimpse of Catherine Howard’s screaming spectre but of course nothing out of the ordinary happened.  I did though take several photos just in case and although no eery spectre is visible there are a number of orbs in several of the photos. I am completely aware that sceptics claim this to be nothing more than dust but why do they appear in some photos and not others? I thought I would leave it up to you to decide- paranormal or in need of a serious vacuum??

    That is very odd Natalie.
Did you take pictures in other rooms ? Did they have these spots ?
Did you feel anything in the gallery?
Im so excited to be going to London and all of these places next year.

It is a little odd! I took six pictures in the ‘haunted gallery’ and all the pictures have these spots. None of my other photographs have them! In all honesty, I didn’t feel anything in the gallery this time round. I had visited previously on a very cold winter’s day in 2000 and was completely alone in the gallery. I remember feeling a little uneasy and nervous. I cannot wait to return!

Wow, i always wanted to go there and to the tower of london. is it just me or did any one else see a figure in one of the pictures under the fire place?

I have been in the haunted gallery and the rest of the palace many times. Trust me….it’s dust. The walls are lined in thick fabric – dust magnets. You don’t see many spots on pics in the rooms with wood panels. However, I did take an awesome picture in the Tower of London with a misty form in part of the image. It was a little weird because I felt like I had a hard time breathing in that room.

In my opinion I dont think it is dust, some of it might be but I dont think all of it is. I have not yet been there but I would think that a place like that would be kept very clean. Also if you think of all the people in history who had spent much of their life there then I would think some of them would stick around of come back to visit. I also think that even after one passes away that a person might still have places they wish to visit as they did when they were living so maybe its spirit tourists. I know that if I am never able to make it to England before I die that after I pass I wish to visit there.
