All Things Anne Boleyn with Professor Suzannah Lipscomb

I’m thrilled to share with you the first of our ‘All Things Boleyn’ video chats. It was an honour to spend an hour speaking with the wonderful Professor Suzannah Lipscomb about Anne Boleyn. We managed to get through all your burning questions about Anne. Sit back and enjoy!

  1. Rebecca Monet says:

Thank you so much, Natalie for hosting Suzannah Lipscomb. So great to present these burning questions to her and hear her thoughts. I’ve always appreciated the consideration and context she has given to Anne’s history; looking at it from all sides: time & place within history, motivation, and the fact that Henry VIII and Anne had a passionate, complex relationship.

I can’t wait for Suzannah’s book. This is again, why I appreciate her. She digs for the truth. If I could give a visual, it’s like the history of the wives is a three dimensional cube and all along many have looked at it on only one or a few sides but she has it suspended, turning, and views all sides, studying original texts and not summations and we are the happy recipients. I will be so glad to hear the history of these women from an unobstructed vantage point in Suzannah’s well studied hand. I truly feel Natalie, that you and other researchers like Claire Ridgeway have kept a high accountability for all historians on the subject and what I appreciate is that Suzannah has always felt that accountability on a personal level. She has an integrity.

  3. I just found you today. Fabulous, thank you!
