In the Footsteps of Anne Boleyn
History by day, Spirits by night
October 2012
(Please note that the headings below are links to further information)
An eight day luxury tour led by Natalie Grueninger, founder of On the Tudor Trail – Retracing the steps of Anne Boleyn and Sarah Morris, author of Le Temps Viendra: a novel of Anne Boleyn.
This has been a long time in the making and includes a number of activities that have been custom tailored exclusively for this tour including dining in Hever Castle’s dining room with Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn whilst listening to Tudor musicians play from the Minstrel’s Gallery!
The focus will be on following in the footsteps of Anne Boleyn and visiting locations that Anne once visited but we aim to do more than simply this.
We will take you on a tour of the imagination and bring back to life the castles and palaces as Anne would have known them.
Armed with maps and primary sources, we will together uncover the Tudor fabric lying dormant in many of these wonderful locations.
But there is more! This tour combines two areas of interest, Anne Boleyn/Tudor history and a little ghost hunting…
Once all the visitors have left, what will we find lurking in the cobbled alleyways of the Tower of London? Will a private evening tour of Hever Castle, Anne Boleyn’s childhood home, reveal more than just shadows? Will our private and exclusive twilight tour of Penshurst Place encourage its past Tudor inhabitants to show themselves?
You will have to join us to find out!
Over the course of the tour various guest speakers will join us. They include:
Dr Suzannah Lipscomb, an historian, author, and broadcaster specialising in the sixteenth century.
Julia Barrett, an expert in Tudor costume, and mastermind behind the exquisite hand-made costumes for Fallen in Love: the secret heart of Anne Boleyn.
Professor David Loades, a British historian and an expert in Tudor history. David has written extensively on the Tudors including biographies on Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Mary Tudor. He has recently published a book about the Boleyns.
Each participant will go home with an ‘In the Footsteps of Anne Boleyn’ goody bag and we have planned some other surprises along the way…
Once a confirmed participant of the tour you will also have access to a private group on Facebook where Natalie and Sarah will be available to discuss preparations for the tour and introduce you to other tour members.
If you love Anne Boleyn and are fascinated by the paranormal, then this is the tour for you!
Do not put this off any longer; book now as there are only 20 places available! (only 12 places left as of 24.9.11)
