I have just completed my third post in the series on Tudor hauntings where I have been focusing on the myths and stories surrounding the ghosts of the six wives of Henry VIII. This time I’ve chosen the ghost of … Continue reading

Historic and haunted Tudor house celebrates 500th birthday

I have just finished reading an interesting article about Paycocke’s house in Coggeshall. The home dates back to 1510 and was built by Thomas Paycocke as a testament to his growing wealth generated by the wool and cloth trade in … Continue reading

Catherine of Aragon’s Ghost

I have just finished writing an article about the ghost of Catherine of Aragon. Although her spectre is not as prolific as that of Anne Boleyn’s she still makes her presence known in Castle Lodge, Ludlow where she and Arthur, … Continue reading

A fantastic article, thank you. I have always been very intrigued by Catherine of Aragon, a very multi-layered, complex character. I’m intrigued about her ghost(s), though the reports of her appearing as a teenage spectre and as an adult woman do lend credence to the theory that ghosts are simply sensitive people accessing the past. How I’d love to see the teenaged Catherine! And that letter of hers, that unbelievable last line, is unforgettable. Would love a movie about Catherine … now, who should play her?

  2. Alejandra Bibriesca says:

I am intrigued by Catherine of Aragon, her accomplishments and contributions for women of her time… are impeccable.. I long for a historically accurate well written interpretation about this great Queen.

I agree Alejandra, Catherine of Aragon is an incredibly interesting woman and I would love someone to write a meticulously researched and detailed full-length account of her life, achievements and legacy. Well said!

Ghost of Anne Boleyn?

Last September, after dreaming about this moment for a decade, I visited Hever Castle. Being in Anne Boleyn’s childhood home; a place that was so dear to her was beyond belief. I kept imagining her walking through the gardens and … Continue reading

Loved this story! I have been to Hampton Court as well as the Tower and felt very different feelings from each. Hampton Court was not a scary place to me, more a “homey” and inviting place (besides the “Wolsey Closet” which was dark and a bit erie. The Tower, however, had a very sad feeling about it, especially the Beauchamp Tower (I believe it is called) with all of the prisoner graffiti. Thanks for this great story! Would you like to exchange links? I run EverythingTudor.com and the Tudor Book Blog! Thanks again!

    Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for your comment. I have to agree with you on the feelings you describe about Hampton Court, I was there last September and also felt incredibly at home and comfortable- it is undoubtedly one of my favourite places in the world!
I have to admit that I was hoping to feel something in the haunted gallery but experienced nothing out of the ordinary. I have had things happen to me in the past that I cannot explain and so was a little disappointed that my Tudor ‘friends’ did not add to those experiences. Oh well, there’s always next time!
I did though take some photos with a number of orbs present but there is so much debate on whether these are simply dust etc. and so one cannot really take this as any kind of conclusive evidence. I will post these photos soon.

I took another ‘interesting’ photo at Hever Castle. Stay tuned for that post soon!
Exchanging links sounds fabulous- the more the merrier!
