Last September, after dreaming about this moment for a decade, I visited Hever Castle. Being in Anne Boleyn’s childhood home; a place that was so dear to her was beyond belief. I kept imagining her walking through the gardens and into the castle, it was amazing to think that she’d been here and that only time separated us now. This was a wonderful thought- we were finally sharing the same space! Entering Anne’s bedroom was a very surreal moment. A person’s bedroom is so personal, so private and I was standing in hers.
I thought that after travelling over 20 hours on a plane I deserved some photographic memento of this wondrous occasion but I didn’t want to break the rules and take a photo of the interior of the home so I took two photos out of Anne’s bedroom window. Only recently, I was examining these photos closely and noticed ‘something’ in one of the photos I had taken. In the second photo I can see what can only be described as part of a face. I see this in the second photo, third row from the bottom, third pane of glass from the left. Now, the more I look at it the more I think it must be a reflection of a portrait of Anne that was hanging in the bedroom at the time of my visit. The only thing is I can’t remember what wall the portrait hangs on and so don’t even know if my reflection theory is even possible.
I would love to know if anyone else can see anything in the photo. Of course, my love of Anne could be clouding my vision and making me see things that aren’t really there but I thought it would be worth showing the photo anyway.
Looking forward to your responses.
In the first picture, one panel in from the edge on both of the bottom rows. There’s a face (which I assume to be Anne Boleyn) taking up a space of four panels.
I see it too. I also see the one in the second picture.
I don’t see a face in either photo. But in the bottom photo, there appears to be a letter A in the center of the first full set of panes, visible, from the top. It is on the pane separator between the 2nd and 3rd pane from the left. If it were also in the top photo, I would have thought there was some type of decoration adorning the outside of the window, but it is only shows in the bottom photo.
Yes, i see like Keziah!
