It has been a while since I have added a new Anne Boleyn place to our already long list, so I am very happy to add location number 28- St Peter’s Church, Hever.
The church is well known for being the final resting place of Sir Thomas Boleyn, Anne’s father, and a local historian in the area recently confirmed what I already suspected, that the Boleyn’s indeed attended the church whilst in residence at Hever Castle.
St Peter’s Church dates back to the 14th century and is located in the centre of Hever next to Hever Castle. Built on the site of an earlier Norman Church, it has been a place of worship for the last 875 years.
Remnants of this Norman place of worship can be found on the outside walls where Norman stones were used in the building of the present church. Also, you’ll find a list of past Rectors of the Church hanging on the West wall dating back to 1200.

I think England has an emerging tourist attraction with Anne Boleyn. With the popularity of the Tudors and Anne’s popularity soaring everyday, I wouldn’t be surprised if pilgrimages were organized to these locations.

My sister and I visited many locations connected to the Tudors last year and we nicknamed our trip ‘Tudor Pilgrimage’ so it’s already happening Theresa!
