Interview with Lesley Smith

I have recently added a new section to On the Tudor Trail called ‘Tudor Talk’ (under the resources tab) where you will find interviews with people with extensive knowledge or expertise in particular areas of Tudor history.

It is a space dedicated to those lovers of history that on a daily basis immerse themselves in the 16th century.

I am honoured and delighted to share with you my exclusive interview with Lesley Smith, television historian, scholar, actress and curator of Tutbury Castle.

Lesley is well known for her role as resident historian on Most Haunted and her dramatic interpretations of Queen Elizabeth I, Mary Queen of Scots and Anne Boleyn. She makes over 300 appearances in character per year!

As if this wasn’t impressive enough, she is also  a postgraduate student in the Centre for the History of Medicine of the University of Birmingham, where she is developing a PhD in obstetrics and gynaecology in early modern Britain, is a member of the Association of Medical Writers and is currently involved with a major research project with the British Museum.

Without further ado, I warmly welcome Lelsey Smith to On the Tudor Trail and hope you enjoy our interview.

  1. Hello!!!

I think this new section is very interesting, because we are a lot of people that recreate 16th century and study the Tudor history through a historical character. So, for me, as recreationist, is very interesting to know the person who is behind the Tudor character 😉

    See you!!!
