I should begin by apologising for my absence over the last couple of weeks. I have only recently returned from a vacation and promised myself that whilst away I would remain with both feet firmly planted in the 21st century.
I must say that I did better than anticipated! The only Tudor comfort I allowed myself was Sandra Byrd’s fabulous book, To Die For – a review coming soon.
Now, to the purpose of this post, one of the reasons why I started On the Tudor Trail was as a place to document locations that Anne Boleyn visited that were still standing, or partially standing, today.
Of course, the site now encompasses much more than simply this but I continue to be fascinated by the idea of standing in a building or space where Anne, Henry or another notable Tudor personality once stood, lived, slept and played out their life.
There is something incredibly special about seeing something that Anne once beheld or touching something that her long, delicate fingers once touched.
For these reasons and more I have decided to add a new section to the site entitled Tudor Photo Tours where you will find photo galleries of various buildings and locations associated with the Tudors.
Many of my readers live in the USA, Australia and Brazil – to name but a few of the countries where Anne Boleyn and Tudor fans reside – and so it’s difficult for them to visit ‘Tudor places’ in person.
Therefore, it is my hope that these photo tours will help all of my readers walk in the footsteps of the Tudors regardless of where they might live!
The photos will be a combination of personal photos from my trips to England and photos shared by my readers. I have over 600 photos to add as a starting point and so I urge you to check back regularly to see what’s new.
If you would like to share your photos of Tudor locations then please contact me.
To kick off our photo tours, I invite you to take a trip to Eltham Palace & Gardens where we need to venture outdoors to find remnants of the Tudors.
Enjoy!
I LOVE this idea! Can’t wait for more! THanks so much!
