Win a copy of ‘To Die For: A Novel of Anne Boleyn’ & more!

To Die For: A Novel of Anne Boleyn

Today I am very happy to post the details of a wonderful competition, made possible thanks to the generosity of a great author, Sandra Byrd. The lucky winner will receive an autographed copy of Sandra Byrd’s To Die For: A Novel of Anne Boleyn, the story of Anne Boleyn told through the eyes of her friend and confidante, Meg Wyatt AND a 1956 edition of Life Magazine with Anne Boleyn on the front cover!

Sandra’s novel is truly a breath of fresh air and offers an original take on a well-worn story. I enjoyed every moment of it and highly recommend it. Read my review here and find out more about the author in our interview here.

Life Magazine 1956, Anne Boleyn.

The Life Magazine is a very special issue, not only because Anne is on the front cover but also because it contains an article by Sir Winston Churchill where he writes about “Henry VIII, a wily king, and of his romantic misadventures.”

What do you need to do to enter?

Firstly – You must sign up to Sandra Byrd’s newsletter here and ensure that you are subscribed to On the Tudor Trail’s mailing list also (opt in form on our home page).

Secondly – Simply leave me a comment at the end of this post detailing why you would like to win this great prize and remember to leave your name and a contact email.

It’s as simple as that!

  1. I look forward to reading “To Die For”. The teen books by this author are wonderful. I would love to read a book on the subject of my passion, Tudors!!! I will be getting the kindle version for sure, but I would love a real copy to hold! To win a copy would be awesome!

  2. I love to read about and collect literary pieces on All Things Regal. I would love to enjoy this copy and add it to my Tudor Library & Collection 🙂 Thank you for the opportunity to win! Warmest regards from Toronto Canada – Kelly Mathews 🙂

  3. Might seem weird but just as of last fall when I moved to Quebec, Canada I started my interest in the Tudor’s. Honestly I’m not sure what brought it on as we did learn about it growing up and in School but as a Canadian and having our roots come from England I think it’s important to learn of past History.

When I think about it now It must have been my love of Antiques, 28 years old and I’m obsessed and watching Antiques Roadshow being a British series soon came down to portraits of bygone years such as some of the Elizabethian era. I began to read hours of Wikipedia soon reading more of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr and fell in love with the 16th Century.

Well I apologize for my ranting as we speak I am about late for work; to say the least I would like to win this for the chance to read a delightful article of one of England’s great Prime Ministers and a book written by an Author I am sure to enjoy.

  4. Another great competition prize, thank you Natalie and Sandra. I would really love to win this book and the copy of Life magazine because the more books I read about the Tudors, the more I am inspired to write my own Tudor novel. One day :0)

  5. I have signed up for Sandra Byrd’s newsletter and have subscribed to On the Tudor Trail’s mailing list.

I would love to win this because not only has this been on my wishlist for quite some time, but it’s also on one of my favorite topics – The Tudors.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  6. I would like to win the book and magazine because I have felt a passion for studying Anne all of my life. I have always felt a deep connection to this period.I would love to be able to explore more through these periodicals.

  7. Reading and Anne Boleyn are two of my biggest passions. If I’m having a bad day I just think of Anne and her strength and courage. I try to read any book on her whether is it fact or fiction. I would love to able to win this book and magazine.
    Good Luck to everyone else!

  8. I love Anne boleyn and all the tudors!!

  9. I was named for three queens and Queen Anne Boleyn was one of them! I love to read about my namesakes.

  10. I have signed up for Sandra Byrd’s newsletter and I’ve already subscribed to On the Tudor Trail’s mailing list.

This has been on my wishlist for some time. Meg isn’t usually featured in books so it would be refreshing hearing the story from her point of view. And to learn more about Meg as well.

Thank you for the giveaway and for making this international!

    Thanks for holding this giveaway!

  12. AnneBoleyn1 says:

Thank you so much for this opportunity to win. I love all things Tudor and an avid reader of UK and Ancient histories.
Have a great day everyone 🙂

  13. I’m a huge fan of Anne Boleyn. Her life inspires me. She was such a strong woman in a time when men had the most power. She always stood up for herself and her beliefs especially when it came to religion. I find that admirable. I think if she was given much longer to live she would have been an excellent mother to Elizabeth who was also strong and independent like her mother. I guess my fascination began when I was as a child. My grandmother was from England and she had many books on the current royal family. Some of them picture books that I would flip through and admire the beautiful gowns worn by Diana. However, no dynasty was as interesting to me as The Tudors. There always seems to be something new to learn about them. I hope given the chance I may learn even more by reading “To Die For”. Thank you for considering me.

  14. Melanie Pancho says:

Oh, my goodness. I would LOVE to win this! First of all, I can’t wait to read about Anne Boleyn from Meg Wyatt’s point of view. Second, I have several royal Life magazine covers from the 1940’s and 1950’s, Elizabeth II as a princess and later as queen, but THIS one would eclipse them all! I’ve never seen this one before; my jaw actually dropped and I got a little teary-eyed when I saw it! Thanks for the chance to possibly win this great prize!

  15. I want to thank you for the wonderful competition. As Anne’s moto goes, I’d feel “the most happy” if I get lucky to win a copy of the book. My interest in the Tudors and Anne Boleyn, in particular, has become a passion for me. Unfortunately, in Bulgaria one can hardly find any good books about the Tudor dynasty and since websites such as amazon.com are out of bounds here, you can imagine how much I’d appreciate having “To die for” in my hands:)
Once again, thanks for providing all of us with a chance to win!

  16. This is such a great contest! I recently heard about this book from your facebook page and would love to win a copy! I would love to share it with a friend of mine who is a budding Tudor enthusiast and needs to build her library! I would also love to read the Life Magazine for the article about Anne Boleyn and the other articles of the time contained in the magazine.

    Thanks!

  17. Those are lovely items you have there, of course like everyone on here I would love to have them. I really don’t know what to say all I know is that learning of Anne Boleyn’s existence bearly a couple weeks ago, has had me asking myself, “what were you doing all this time?” I am interested in all there is to know about here and I would guard that book and magazine with my life. She is inspiring and strong, my personal role model!
    Thank you all,
    Drisel S.

  18. Crystal Johnson says:

These are such wonderful items and thank you so much for the opportunity to win them! I am obsessed with the Tudor dynasty particularily Anne Bolyn, she amazes me and i love learning every thing i can about her. Enlgish royal history is my passion and i would just LOVE to add this to my collection 🙂

  19. kelly cash says:

I have had an obsession of The Monarchy from Princess Diana back to The Tudor period. Especially the Tudors’–I have lots of books on Henry VIII–Elizabeth I–Katherine Parr and a few on Anne Boleyn, I would love to win this so I have another perspective on her life in the Tudor realm and another author’s opinion may help me in understanding better what is going on in the 16th century of things. The magazine also will be interesting for I am also an avid amateur collector of historic things, books, and other interesting objects!

  20. Hanna Ahlstrom says:

    Hi,
Firstly – check! I am just waiting for the confirmation e-mail from Sandra Byrd (thanks for promoting her awesome webpage)
Secondly – Check. I want to win, so I can get yet another book to read about the Tudor era. I just started the Tudour course at Exeter university (thanks to you – I would never have found it anyway). The reading list is big, but I think I need more books to read 🙂

  21. Lori Thomas says:

I am subscribed to both email newsletters. This is an awesome giveaway!!! I love reading about the Tudors.

    Thnx 4 the chance.

  22. Rachel Irwin says:

I love to read, and reading about history is one of my favourites. I would love to be able to add this book to my collection. 🙂

  23. Adrienne J. Dillard says:

I don’t really think I have any better reasons for wanting to win than anyone else who has commented and I definitely don’t think I deserve it any more than they do either. I pretty much just love and adore Anne. I think she was an amazing person and I have devoted a lot of my life to learning about hers. I’ve realized lately that I think of her at least once a day, I even talk to her some times, haha. I’ve kind of made it a life mission to learn all I can about Anne and the world around her. My son even has two names, Henry and Thomas after the king and all the Thomases in his life! It would just be really awesome to win. Thank you for giving us all a chance to win!

  24. Because I am obsessed! 🙂

  25. I have signed up for Sandra Byrd’s newsletter and I’ve already subscribed to On the Tudor Trail’s mailing list.

It is extremely expensive for us, brazilians, buy a Tudor book on internet. If I win the book, I will surely tell everyone about it, and maybe the author allows a translation into portuguese! We have so little Tudor books translated, this would be a great acquisition for us. I had seen this magazine on the internet, but I thought it was fake!I think it would just be amazing to have it on my hands!
I love so much Anne Boleyn and Tudors and I created a website in portuguese for them, since it is extremely difficult to find good articles in our language! It would be awesome to win the book and magazine, I just would make “the most happy.”

  26. kerry sayer says:

I would so love to win a copy of the Life magazine….it would be wonderful to add another item to my hope chest filled with Tudor keepsakes.

  27. Norita Bergmann says:

I am obsessed with all things Tudor and would treasure both the book and the magazine. Thanks for this opportunity!!!

  28. Thank you for this opportunity! It would be wonderful to read and add “To Die For: A Novel of Anne Boleyn” to my Tudor collection – and the Life magazine as well! These are the lovely things that keep my passion at bay until I can take that trip of a lifetime to England and follow in your footsteps!

  29. So where do I begin? I am a huge fan of Anne Boleyn, and have been for several years now. But it goes beyond that. As you can probably see by my surname, I am directly descended from the infamous Cromwells. I.e. the wretched Thomas who had a big hand in leading Anne to the scaffold. Since finding this out in my youth, I’ve always felt I had something to make up to this poor woman who was crowned with ambition and then promptly beheaded. Since then I have snapped up every book on the subject. From large collegiate studies to the beautiful fictional accounts told from nearly every angle. Each one is read more than once, and often become the books du jour on rainy days or long vacations. I hope that this book will be the very next on my shelf as the weather turns cold and the perfect time for reading nears. Thank you!

  30. Bonnie Barton says:

I love hearing about new book on Henry VIII’s life. Unfortunately I can’t always get those books here in the states! Boo Hoo!

  31. Colleen Turner says:

I love all things Tudor and have wanted to read this book for awhile. An autographed copy would be superb. I am subscribed to both mailing lists with candc320@gmail.com. Thanks!

  32. Katherine Marcella says:

I’m the girl who knew from the day she was born that she was living in the wrong century and the wrong country. I’m the girl who, when everybody else in her kindergarten class focused on pictures of horses or puppies, grabbed the pictures of knights and castles. I’m the girl who in high school would frequently skip lunch to close herself up in an empty classroom to spend a blissful hour reading a book of English history because she just had to. I am the woman who when she gets the money and time always heads to England because there is nowhere else on earth she can imagine wanting to go. I am the woman who lives surrounded by books on the Tudors because that is what matters to her more than anything else. I am the woman who cherishes every book she can get on Tudor history.

  33. Karin Carthew says:

I would love to win because plain and simple, i am obsessed with everything Tudor! I am subscribed to both lists 🙂

  34. Howard Dalton says:

Where are all the men who should be leaving their responses to this contest? Represent! Sheesh. Tudor history is man’s game too. :0)

  35. Phyllis Hunt says:

I love anything Tudor, but especially Anne Boleyn. Her life was interesting, to say the least, but for her to be thrown aside by the King on false charges, was a tragedy. i think there is a lot about her that is not know. I would love to read this book, and learn more about this amazing woman.

  36. Anne Elizabeth Nicholas says:

Anne Boleyn has been my obsession for a year now. What began as a quest to read classic literature ended in a journey to know Anne. I read Dickens’ Prince and the Pauper, and Henry seemed to jump at me. So then I read a biography of Henry which led to Anne, and now , I am absolutely obsessed. Which is why I want to win. I haven’t actually read a lot of Anne novels, so I would like to win because that has been an angle as yet unexplored. And, frankly, being a teen without a job, hasn’t exactly helped my situation either, (sigh). The Life magazine is awesome. That is definitely getting framed!!

  37. For many years, I was a girl who characteristically lacked confidence in herself. I was painfully shy, and allowed myself to be bullied and stepped on many times. As a result of this, my childhood lacked a lot of positive experiences, and I felt severely lonely. Upon discovering Anne Boleyn through a novel in my early teens, I began to idolize her as a new role model. For me, she was a strong woman that I could truly look up to for inspiration on a day to day basis. I started to fully appreciate my femaleness and my hidden inner strength. Whereas once I shied away from intimidation, I can now confront it head on and feel good about myself afterwards. Currently, I have probably read every novel and biography there is about Anne Boleyn, and I continue to soak in every one with great enthusiasm. Anne has taught me that being true to yourself is a wonderful thing. Because of her influence in my life, I am currently studying Tudor England in university, and it would be an honour to read Byrd’s new novel. I fully encourage every young woman lacking confidence in herself to read about Anne’s story. It is truly remarkable and I can guarantee that she will inspire you to achieve in all of your pursuits.

  38. Love Tudor history!!!!!!!!!!!! The men and women were so strong in their beliefs and really colorful characters. Henry’s wives had each such unique personalities but the most complex being Anne Boleyn. The dynamics between the Boleyn sisters and Henry was again pretty colorful, better than any soap opera. I am definitely addicted to this era and hope to one day visit England and all the history it offers!!!!!!

  39. I love reading books about the Tudors, and Anne Boleyn is by far my favorite historical figure to learn about.

  40. Clarissa Urbina says:

This is the chance of a lifetime, I love Tudor novels and have a very small collection of magazines about queens (mostly Cleopatra!) but this one is so incredibly awesome, it is vintage and also about Ann Bolyen. It would make me so happy to treasure it forever!!!! Thank you!!

  41. I have been a Tudor fan for years and have been a special devotee of Anne. I can’t get enough information about her and would welcome any opportunity to add to my refference library of both fiction and non-fiction books. I love your website- I have learned so much from all of your posts. Thanks so much!!!

  42. I would like to win this giveaway because I have always been a fan of the Tudors for as long as I can remember particularly Anne Boleyn. I am currently reading your book To Die For…love it so far…thanks Sandra for an awesome giveaway..!!

  43. I would really love to win this, because I am Anne Boleyn’s fan. She is such an inspiration for me, and I love learning about her.

  44. I would love to win this book, as it is so difficult to get my local library to purchase any books on Anne Boleyn! Thank you doing the giveaway. . .

  45. Nancy Tomasheski says:

What a wonderful giveaway! I admit I am perhaps most interested in the Churchill essay – big fan! But I know I will enjoy the book as well.

  46. Ever since I first read about Anne Boleyn, I have been fascinated with her, her whole story and all the mystery and twisted lies that surround her. She was such a brillant women, especially in a time and history when women virtually had no roles, she outshown them all with her intelligence, wit and beauty-which was enough to dazzle Henry VIII! Because the first book I read about her was historical fiction, I decided to do more research on her, and the more I learned the more I fell in love with Anne Boleyn. My ‘love affair’ with Anne Boleyn will never diminish. I love learning, and reading about her. Anyhing about Anne Boleyn that I can get my hands on is greedily read, (with a blatant disregard for anything else I might have been occupied reading!) As long as history is taught, Anne Boleyn will be remembered, whether its for the good or the bad, because she forever changed the course of England and mothered one of the greatest monarchs to the English throne, Elizabeth I. And also because of people like us, who are fascinated with her, and ‘love’ her she will live on!

  47. I am a huge fan of Anne Boleyn and I am anxious to read your new book. I would welcome the opportunity to add it to my personal Tudor library. Thank you for the opportunity.

  48. I LOVE Tudor history, most especially as relating to Henry VIII, and Anne Boleyn is my favorite of his wives. If I can’t actually retrace the Tudor trail in person, winning this contest would be the next best thing.

  49. LESLEY GURNEY says:

I would love to win the book I love all things Tudor

  50. Jessica Crowley says:

I think I should win this because I am absolutely obsessed with Anne Boleyn and the Tudor Era. I have entered writing contests before and I role play a great deal on various forums. It is so much fun to relieve the Tudors series and History. As well, one day, I would love to do a Tudor tour, but until then, I want to read all about it. I have many fiction and non-fiction books about the Tudor era and I will lose my head if I cannot get this one! 🙂
