Today I am very happy to post the details of a wonderful competition, made possible thanks to the generosity of a great author, Sandra Byrd. The lucky winner will receive an autographed copy of Sandra Byrd’s To Die For: A Novel of Anne Boleyn, the story of Anne Boleyn told through the eyes of her friend and confidante, Meg Wyatt AND a 1956 edition of Life Magazine with Anne Boleyn on the front cover!
Sandra’s novel is truly a breath of fresh air and offers an original take on a well-worn story. I enjoyed every moment of it and highly recommend it. Read my review here and find out more about the author in our interview here.
The Life Magazine is a very special issue, not only because Anne is on the front cover but also because it contains an article by Sir Winston Churchill where he writes about “Henry VIII, a wily king, and of his romantic misadventures.”
What do you need to do to enter?
Firstly – You must sign up to Sandra Byrd’s newsletter here and ensure that you are subscribed to On the Tudor Trail’s mailing list also (opt in form on our home page).
Secondly – Simply leave me a comment at the end of this post detailing why you would like to win this great prize and remember to leave your name and a contact email.
It’s as simple as that!
Feel free to email all your friends and family about this competition whether they live in Brazil, Ireland or Sweden- all welcome!
Our competition is opened until 10pm on the 10th October, 2011 (Sydney time), with the winner randomly selected and announced shortly thereafter.
Good luck!
Anne Boleyn is a fascinating character that was introduced to me through a movie. Since that chance introduction, I’ve developed a rabid interest in the entire Tudor line, but Anne is always my favorite personality to look into. Placed somewhere she didn’t exactly know, she gave it her all and reached the top, only to be toppled by other who saw her for what she wasn’t. In some ways, I relate to her experience. To learn more of her life is always a pleasure and having come in the form a book, instead of an internet page, is always a better feeling.
I greatly admire the Tudor history and would have loved being a part of Ann’s life or one of Henry’s wives. I do have to sadly say my life would have ended the same as Ann’s because of having the same determined and strong willed personality.
I have always been fascinated by the Tudor period and in particular the area of upheaval surrounding Henry VIII and the “witch” Anne Boleyn. It is this strong pull which has lead me to become an archaeologist! I have been eagerly researching this time period and love some of the historical novels which are recently spilling out into mainstream literature. Anne Boleyn was a woman ahead of her time, proud and headstrong, and this is part of the intrigue to her character. Her bravery at times was remarkable and awe inspiring. Though maybe not a perfect role model, her strength of will and determination are admirable.
I would love to have this book because the TUDOR Era is my favorite part of England’s history,

I enjoy learning about Anne Boleyn and her life and I think I would enjoy this book that tells her life through the eyes of a good friend.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to enter our competition! We will be selecting and announcing the winner shortly. Good luck!
It’s with all my heart that I wish i could win this book because I am fond of Anne Boleyn’s story. I am French and can’t read a lot of books about her life and what she went through during her marriage to Henry VIII, especially books written in her language, English. I am always eager to learn more about her, being a kind of model for me as her daughter, Elizabeth, is. You would make me the most happy.
