Book Blurb:

Young Queen Elizabeth I’s path to the throne has been a perilous one, and already she faces a dangerous crisis. French troops have landed in Scotland to quell a rebel Protestant army, and Elizabeth fears once they are entrenched on the border, they will invade England.

Isabel Thornleigh has returned to London from the New World with her Spanish husband, Carlos Valverde, and their young son. Always the queen’s loyal servant, Isabel is recruited to smuggle money to the Scottish rebels. Yet Elizabeth’s trust only goes so far—Isabel’s son will be the queen’s pampered hostage until she completes her mission. Matters grow worse when Isabel’s husband is engaged as military advisor to the French, putting the couple on opposite sides in a deadly cold war.

I think it looks great, and I personally love well-written novels about Queen Elizabeth, who is such an interesting figure in English history. As a history blogger and book reviewer, I really hope I get the chance to read this book (winning would be great!!) so that I can share it wish my readers and delve a little more deeply into the wonderful world of Elizabeth I – the greatest monarch of the Tudor Dynasty! Thanks for writing this book and taking part in this giveaway!

    • Thanks for your comments, Stephanie. I share your fascination about Elizabeth I and I hope you’ll enjoy the depiction of her in several of my books: as Princess Elizabeth imprisoned by her half-sister Queen Mary in THE QUEEN’S CAPTIVE, and as a young queen herself in THE QUEEN’S GAMBLE. Elizabeth also figures prominently in my upcoming release in May: BLOOD BETWEEN QUEENS. I’d be delighted if you would feature it on your excellent blog. See http://www.barbarakyle.com

      Best regards,

  10. Connie Fischer says:

The time of the Tudors and the life of Elizabeth I has to be the most interesting time in history as it was fraught with such change in religion and ruling parties. I first became fascinated with the period while watching The Tudors television show. It whet my appetite to learn even more about the people and the customs of the time. Can you imagine how unsettling it must have been for people at court? I think I would have been frightened every day!

Thank you for the giveaway, Barbara. Your novels are so well-researched and informative.

There’s no question that Elizabeth I is the most admired monarch in English history. And who better to write her dramatic story than Canada’s own Barbara Kyle? North Americans adore anything to do with the Tudor era and Ms. Kyle’s previous novels are filled with intrigue and action. There’s nothing better than curling up in a cosy chair and taking a journey back in time with your favourite author.
