I empathise with people I read about as it was so difficult playing the ‘game of thrones’ especially when they didn’t have a choice.

  2. erika kaba says:

The Tudor era was one of the most fascinating time in history, where the intriging life in palaces took place among kings/Queens, murderers, héroes, gost, etc….

  11. Lauren Robertson says:

Everything about the Tudor era fascinates me completely! I feel as if I’m transported back to that time every time I read about it.

  12. Kings and Queens are always fascinating, but the Tudors are especially fascinating. They have become like dark fairytales with their struggles for the throne, struggles for life, struggle against death, enemies, and the desire for love. They have become such famous figures, it’s sometimes easy to forget that they were real people, with complicated emotions and complex personalities. That’s what attracts me, trying to find the real people behind the (in)famous faces.

  13. Now THIS is something that I would be thrilled to win. Thanks for the opportunity to try! I’m wishing hard to be the lucky one!

  14. Helen Amos says:

The Tudor era fascinates me so much as I feel you just couldn’t find that in the best of any fiction.

  15. Colleen Turner says:

Their lives are more action and drama packed than anyone could make up! Love the excitement!

  16. Roechelle says:

The women fascinated me the most, especially Anne Boleyn who proved that common women were very capable of being intelligent, independent, strong individuals.

  17. I find this era so amazing. I can’t get enough of the history. I wish I could travel back in time to see how they lived and the true experience of life at that time.

  18. Carrie Millwood says:

The first “grown up” novel I ever read was “Queen of this Realm” when I was 11 years old. I was hooked!!! Realizing that these famous names I had heard are real people, with real lives (intrigue, happiness, disappointments,…) brought me to a new level in my young world.

  19. Kim Tucker says:

There are so many reasons why I love the Tudor history…so to keep it under 25 words or less…the way they loved. Weather for power, prosperity, passion, duty, revenge or dare I say it for Love.

  20. Stephanie Sunderland says:

Church of England, executing his Queen, Mary became the first female monarch since Matilda, and A Queen executing her cousin Queen! Never been done before.

  21. The Tudors fascinate me because their reality is more compelling that any fiction.
There is no need to embellish this time in history. “Things that really happen are harder to believe or more amazing than stories that people invent.”

Congratulations Nat, proud of what you have accomplished 😀

  22. The fact that the women there were able to rise so high and be strong despite that everything was against them.

  23. kirsty parsons says:

im absolutely fascinated by the tudor history. even though iam young and most of my friends would rather be ready twilight i would prefer to be ready these amazing books. im completely captivated by the strong intelligent woman and how quickly people rise and fall from power.

  24. Alicia Allan says:

These are the real stories, of real people who shaped a nation. How could one not be fascinated with Tudor history! I am utterly addicted!

  25. Susie C says:

I have been fascinated with the Tudors for a long time. I love the clothes and have always been interested in what makes King Henry tick.

  26. Carolee Pineau says:

Love the Tudors and all the monarchy – even that little Cromwell detour. Wonderful addition to my library.

  27. Connie Gaston says:

For really the first time in England, the women exercised power.

  28. Marina Ruszkowski says:

I love the Tudors and the timeperiode. I love going to the castles, Churches and old buildings. They shaped England in how it is now . Still so much left from their time.

  29. Amanda Haddow says:

A time period which changed the landscape of British Society, Political and Religious sphere…got me hooked instantly!!

  30. The Tudors’ story teaches lessons of ambition, love, and morality still applicable today. “History repeats itself” – what’s intriguing is it could happen again, has never actually died.

(On a side note, congratulations! This blog and ‘The Anne Boleyn Files’ are my two ‘what-would-I-even-do-without-you’ blogs!)

  31. 25 words isn’t enough to describe all the reasons Tudor history is incredible. I feel an affinity with Anne Boleyn which takes away my breath.

  32. Barbara Bower says:

I became fascinated by the Tudors when I read Jean Plaidy’s books as a teen. I was working at the library ans browsing the shelves. Later was a young adult I saw the PBS series “The wives if Henry the VII”. I think it is a very interesting and tragic era.

  33. Pam Kent says:

I started watching the six wives of Henry VIII in 1970 when i was 10 and I was hooked for life http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066714/ .

  34. In a little over 100 years, the Tudor dynasty had more incredible events than any other in British history. And had the most interesting people.

  35. Donna Fleming says:

I find the Tudor era to be very fascinating. The intrigue, love and human emotions are as important now as they were then.

  36. The worlds most interesting people will all the drama and thrills any period in time can give you. Powerful women, a mother pushing to have the power and crown through her only son and a grandson who went through so many woman and not getting the outcome he wanted. Instead he sat a very powerful woman on the throne through the one woman he beheaded. Let’s not forget the struggle of Mary who was never happy and always pushed aside.

  37. Guille Espinola says:

Here are a few words: family problems, ambition, love, lust (physical or for power), powerful women in a powerless world and scandal. The Tudor dynasty reflects this so well, and I think anyone can relate to that.

  38. Ines Eusebi says:

Because you couldn’t write a more fascinating story. And there is so much we don’t know about them. Why did Henry decide he didn’t like Anne of Cleves, for example.

  39. Flavio Terracciano says:

The Tudor Era had so many fascinating elements: romance, greed, jealousy, war, family problems, international intrigue, sports, brutal executions, fashion, backstabbing, religious struggles, and so on. How could you NOT be fascinated?

  40. Miguel Angel Cruzado says:

Well I think it is because the story of the Tudors combines so many different emotions and situations ..passion, crime, sex, love,hate,revenge.. and many other things..it is the most fascinating story in history.

  41. Laura Pintos says:

Their story has become legend, almost mythical. Also, the similarities and contrasts between Henry’s goal to have a male heir and what he went through and put others through with Elizabeth’s legacy is a perfect example of life’s twists and turns

  42. Dina C. says:

My husband asks me that all the time!!! The scandals, the wardrobe, the palaces- you can’t make this stuff up!

  43. I Think that our obsession with the Tudors reflects the fact that they were the 16th century’s equivalent of our modern-day celebrities— physically beautiful; wealthy and powerful, jettisoning from palace to palace, bedecked in jewels and velvet, they strode across the stage of their Renaissance world wreaking havoc in their wake, enthralling, repelling, and entertaining their contemporary audience much as they entertain us today, hundreds of years later.

  44. Carolina Estivil says:

I really don’t have a very good answer, but I think that there’s something deeply romantic about the Tudor era, the idea of “courtly love” – of dancing together at balls, receiving handwritten love letters, exchanging small ‘tokens of affection,’ (not to mention braving the dangers of romance at court) are all exciting thoughts. Even down to the way men and women looked during that time period is so intriguing. There’s something truly beautiful about a woman in a long flowing gown, with her hair adorned with jewels or flowers, and there’s something equally attractive about a man in all his old-fashioned Tudor garb.
I Think this images explain why I can read Tudor book after Tudor book without getting bored, even when I’m reading about the same people.
I know I wrote more than 25 words! sorry, is the passion I Feel for them!

  45. Ordas A. says:

These people really lived and their stories are more fascinating than any make-believe. Henry and his wives will always fascinate us because of the passion and opulence of their lives; Anne’s rise to power is a strikingly modern story and her rapid fall continues to evoke shock and sympathy.
Sorry Natalie but it’s really difficult to express in just 25 words!! 😉

  46. Donna Quartley-Parker says:

Scheming, scandal, intrigue, affairs, power & war; an era of opulence vs extreme poverty add religion reign & superstitious paranoia, the clothes & traditions ?

  47. Ari Tomeo says:

Why are we fascinated in just 5 words!!
    T:thrilling
    U:undying
    D:dreamlike
    O:overwhelming
    R: refreshing
    S:superb

Congratulations Natalie on this and more anniversaries to come!!!!!!! 🙂

  48. Linda M. Hart says:

The Tudors changed world history, religion and demonstrated the power of female monarchs from Elizabeth I to Elizabeth II. The Tudors are my tutors.

  49. Susana Rodriguez says:

This fascination we have for The Tudor era is like an addiction to me, the more you read the more you need.
I think deep inside, we need to know the truth, what really happened!?. The fascination we have for them it´s because, for example, we don´t have a secret diary of Anne!!!!! we have no information of what was going through their minds!!!!

  50. Stefani T. says:

I got into the Tudor World in high school, and it touched my life deeply. Thanks to Henry VIII I continue reading, and each year my love for Tudor history was increasing, finally I graduate, and I´m a history teacher.
