Winners of the Tudor Ghost Story Contest 2013

Tudor Ghost Story Contest

A message from Wendy J. Dunn – judge of the Tudor Ghost Story Contest 2013!

Once again, it was an absolute delight to judge the Tudor England Ghost Story Competition. Once again, it was very difficult to decide the winner from all our entries, but after careful consideration, I have now chosen the first and second place getters.

In the past, I’ve read other stories with a similar concept to our first place getter, but this particular story demonstrates such wonderful storytelling that I feel certain that readers of On the Tudor Trail will enjoy it as much as I did. Our second place getter is also a wonderful and well-told story. To decide the winner, I had to come down on which story handled best the “ghostly” aspect necessary for a ghost story, and which story stayed with me for the longest.

Natalie and I are always very impressed with the high standard of our place getters. So much so, we want to explore the possibility of producing an anthology putting together all our past place getters to help raise money for the restoration of the Mary Rose. We thought if we contacted all our place getters for their go ahead, we could start to put the anthology together, with the aim of coinciding its publication with the announcement of the winners for our next competition, so we can also publish them in the anthology, too. Since next year’s focus will be planning out what we need to do for this anthology, the next Tudor Ghost Story contest will be open for entries sometime in 2015.  Stay tuned for more news!

All the best,

Wendy J. Dunn, author of Dear Heart, How Like You This?

P.S. If you have been past place getter of this contest, please let us know if you would like to see your ghost story published in this proposed anthology.
