Review of ‘In the Footsteps of Anne Boleyn’

Absolutely delighted to receive Joanna Ferris’ review of my book, In the Footsteps of Anne Boleyn, co-authored with Sarah Morris. Jo has worked at Hampton Court Palace and the Tower of London and performed many first-hand interpretations of Anne Boleyn, so she definitely knows her history.

Here’s what Jo had to say…

This is a beautiful piece of work, thoroughly researched and easy to use. Having spent many years reading historical pieces and guides, it’s refreshing to feel that you can relax into a book and simply enjoy it, as the book is solidly referenced and the authors are not afraid to say “We simply do not know” when appropriate. It is a very personal guide and the authors’ love for their subject matter beams through every words and photograph but never threatens to overpower the work with fanaticism or obsession. Instead, there is a sense of “Because we love this woman, we will get this right” and what more could you wish for from a work of this nature?

Some of the places in this book I know like the back of my hand, others I know through reference books alone whilst yet others I had barely heard of. Safe to say, not only will I be making a few extra daytrips this Spring/ Summer, I also feel that this book has opened another little window into that world and that makes it very special indeed.
