About the Author

Nicola Tallis has a first class BA (Hons) in History from Bath Spa University. She also has an MA in Public History from Royal Holloway College, University of London. Nicola has been passionate about English history all of her life, and has worked as a curator, lecturer, and historical researcher. She is currently the resident historian for Alison Weir Tours. Crown of Blood is the result of five years of research on the Grey family, and is her first book. Elizabeth’s Rival: The Tumultuous Tale of Lettice Knollys, Nicola’s second book, is the first biography of this extraordinary Tudor lady.

  24. Hello! I’ve been a “lurker” on this site for a long time now. Not sure why I never signed up for the newsletter before 🙂 I adore anything Tudor, and your articles are really interesting. Thanks so much for this website-it’s so informative! I finished reading Starkey’s book Six Wives, and am reading Mantel’s Wolf Hall right now. I’ve read all of the Gregory books,, and am constantly on the hunt for great Tudor authors. This book looks awesome. I love both historical fiction and non fiction, and would love to read more about Lettice Knollys and Elizabeth. What a treat it would be to win this book!

  31. Looking forward to reading this book and sampling the authors work. I love reading history written with an eye to the emotional aspects of the characters. Lettice was not known to me and will be very interesting to see why she was able to defy such a strong Queen. Knowing our Elizabeth I figure the lady Lettice kept her head because Elizabeth used hers.
