Palaeography: reading old handwriting, 1500-1800

This web tutorial aims to help readers learn how to read the handwriting found in documents written in English between 1500-1800. The good news for us is that the tutorial offers lots of great practical tips and then lets you put the tips into practice by working through a number of primary sources.

The even better news is that five out of the ten documents supplied are Tudor! One being a letter dated 16 March 1554 from Elizabeth I, as princess, to her sister Queen Mary I.
